INFOhio has published two new resources to help teachers develop curriculum connections for 21st century learning. These documents outline how INFOhio’s 21st century learning resources support and enrich 21st century teaching and learning skills through equitable access to standards-aligned quality resources. Use these documents to plan a 21st century learning approach that encourages innovation, creativity and global competence within Ohio classrooms. Getting to "Got It!" Helping Mathematics Students Reach Deep Understanding (also available in PDF format) is available from The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement in their March 2008 newsletter. The article discusses a recent practice guide titled Organizing Instruction and Study to Improve Student Learning that aims to supplement and inform teachers' instincts and experiences by identifying research-based instructional strategies that teachers of all content areas can use to improve student learning.

Findings from the National Mathematics Panel |

Learning Point Associates in conjunction with The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement have relaesed a research brief entitled A Road Map for Mathematics Achievement for all Students: Findings from the National Mathematics Panel.
The National Panel outlined six overarching recommendations as a comprehensive approach to mathematics education. This research brief will focus on the first three topics and the recommendations for PK-12 education.

DIBELS: Summary of Effectiveness Tutorial |

The Region 6 State Support Team has created a tutorial that will explain how to use and interpret the DIBELS Summary of Effectiveness Report in order to make data driven decisions about your school district’s reading curriculum and system of reading interventions. The data generated from this report is intended to examine the effectiveness of your district’s core curriculum and instructional supports.

In this video, Dr. George Batsche provides useful advice to schools on the critical steps to successful implementation of RTI problem-solving. He highlights the importance of establishing a district leadership team, building consensus, implementing an infrastructure, and implementing the process for providing services to all students. NCEE Releases What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guide |

The National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance within the Institute of Education Sciences has released "Assisting Students Struggling with Reading: Response to Intervention and Multi-Tier Intervention in the Primary Grades" (PDF). This new practice guide offers recommendations on how teachers and administrators can structure and utilize effective Response-to-Intervention strategies at both the classroom and school level. The guide also provides useful tips for implementing these recommendations.

Ohio on iTunes U Launches |

eTech Ohio launched Ohio on iTunes U at the 11th annual educational technology conference where thousands of attendees discovered hundreds of podcasts showcasing a wide variety of over 1,500 pieces of educational content from across the state. Ohio on iTunes U provides educational digital media resources through a national digital media provide, Ohio on iTunes U, free of charge with unlimited access. The Apple iTunes U platform allows the State of Ohio to showcase educational resources, professional development materials, best practices, and student samples which have been produced by members of the K-12 community, higher education, government, and a variety of other Ohio content providers.
The Ohio on iTunes U project is seeking more educational content from providers such as K-12 and higher education institutions, arts and cultural museums, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.
