The
publication titled “The Young Gifted Child: a Guide for Families” was
prepared by a committee of experts from the fields of gifted education
and early childhood education in order to help parents who believe
their preschool children may be gifted.

This
brochure describes characteristics and behaviors of gifted children as
well as provides guidance to parents on talent development. It also
offers information on children’s social and emotional needs, the
selection of appropriate schools and additional resources.

The National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and BAM Radio Network have partnered to bring you NAEYC Radio. Rae Pica and Mark Ginsberg
host the program that will focus on a different topic each month. The
progam was developed by early childhood professionals to bring the best
and latest insights directly to parents and educators. NAEYC has also
recently updated the position statement Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early
Childhood Programs.

Healthy Child Care America Web Site Updated |

The Healthy Child Care America Web site has been updated and can be accessed at www.healthychildcare.org. The site provides information on early education and child care to health care professionals, child care professionals, and families. A Resource Library at the web site contains resources related to early education and child care. The web site has sections for health care professionals, early education and child care professionals, and parents.
The Goals of Healthy Child Care America
- To promote the healthy development and school readiness of children in early education and child care by strengthening partnerships between health and child care professionals.
- To provide information and support necessary to strengthen children’s access to health services.
- To promote the cognitive, social and physical development of children in early education and child care.
- To provide technical assistance regarding health and safety for health professionals and the early childhood community.
- To enhance the quality of early education and child care with health and safety resources.
- To support the needs of health professionals interested in promoting healthy and safe early education and child care programs.
