DIBELS: Summary of Effectiveness Tutorial |
|
|
|
|
The Region 6 State Support Team has created a tutorial that will explain how to use and interpret the DIBELS Summary of Effectiveness Report in order to make data driven decisions about your school district’s reading curriculum and system of reading interventions. The data generated from this report is intended to examine the effectiveness of your district’s core curriculum and instructional supports.
The tutorial will help you to:
- print effectiveness worksheets,
- generate a Summary of Effectiveness Report,
- and
evaluate the effectiveness of a grade level curriculum using the
Summary of Effectiveness Report and the Evaluating Effectiveness of
Schoolwide System Worksheet
- use DIBELS data to evaluate the effectiveness of district, building and grade level reading curriculum and tiered interventions.
The summary of effectiveness report is one of many reports that can be
generated at the DIBELS Data System web site. The DIBELS Data System
can generate a Summary of Effectiveness Report for your district as
well as generate Summary of Effectiveness Reports by school building
and by individual classrooms. The data can be evaluated in order to
make curricular decisions and to strengthen curriculums and
interventions for reading. According to the DIBELS Data System website,
the purpose of the Summary of Effectiveness Report is to examine the
effectiveness of the core reading program and instructional supports at
the three instructional levels, and see how effective the reading
curriculum is at getting children to the next primary target goal.
Both a downloadable, printable tutorial and a video tutorial help to walk you through the steps of generating and evaluating DIBELS data. Notice: The video tutorial is best viewed in a Firefox browser. If you view the
video in Internet Explore, you will have to use the scroll bars to the
right of the window to scroll down to the video controls.
