The United States Department of Education has posted on its website updated guidance related to transitioning to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  These FAQs are designed to support States and LEAs in understanding expectations during the transition to full implementation of the ESSA.

Family Community Resource Guides were created to assist families in our seven county region to find organizations in their local community to support their family’s needs. Each guide is organized into categories based on type of organization, which include: agency, counseling, early childhood, employment, family support, home health care agency, hospital/medical facility, recreation & leisure, support group, transportation and statewide resources. Feel free to print and share the resource or link directly to this web site. Guides will be updated yearly. If you have resources that you would like to add to the guide, please contact Kim Moritz at .

Accessibility for Ohio’s State Tests

This page includes information and resources related to accommodations on state assessments.

Ohio's State Tests

Ohio’s Accessibility Manual is a comprehensive policy document providing information about the accessibility features of Ohio’s State Tests for grades 3-8 and high school in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The manual helps to define the specific accessibility features available for all students, students with disabilities, students who are English language learners and students who are English language learners with disabilities. Ohio’s Accessibility System features are made up of accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners as well as other features including administrative considerations, universal tools and designated supports.

There is still some confusion on the high school tests that Ohio will administer in spring 2015. The information below details the tests Ohio will use and specifies which tests students will take.

  1. The high school end-of-course tests being given in Ohio this spring are algebra I, geometry, mathematics 1, mathematics 2, English language arts 1, English language arts 2, physical science, American government and American history;
  2. First-time freshmen after July 1, 2014, enrolled in these courses will take these tests;
  3. All high school students enrolled in American history and American government as yearlong or second semester courses will take these tests (an exception are those students taking the Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate American history or American government tests);
  4. Students below grade 9 who are taking high school courses will take the tests;
  5. Ohio is not testing in algebra II, mathematics 3 or English language arts 3. Any school that placed orders for these tests with Pearson will not receive these tests.
